question. by tara n. Hi Ms. Dizon, I had question I wanted to ask during class but didn't get the chance to. So I decided to ask you on here and get extra credit! It isn't very exciting though. Ok, I was wondering if you still had my NJHS form from last year. I was hoping I could look off that to remember some of the things I could put on this years application. Thanks! See you in class. (:
Here are the answers to some of your questions... My favorite TV show is Grey's Anatomy We do blood typing and genetics in 8th grade I try to update progressbook daily. We will do all sorts of labs this year from genetics, to chemistry, to sand labs. My favorite less is my Fruitvale Unit and Blood typing. My favorite color is purple 8th grade year is your most difficult in science because the material is much more difficult to understand and you are also preparing for the OATs. If you want more information on Washington DC you will have to see Mrs. White. Tara I still have your form from last year. All the units for 7th and 8th grade are listed on the website and on the white paper you were sent home with. I don't give alot of homework. It is mostly work you have to finish at home that we started in class. In NJHS we do many activities such as the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Walkathon, The Wish BAskets, Pennies for Patients, Movie Nights, Skatin Parties. You only get a dentention in my class for being late if you are more than 3 times late to my class.
hey ms. dizon. i was just wondering how long until we have to turn in our NJHS forms? also i did mighty mu for fifth and sixth grade. so can i put that down as two different things for NJHS? from Abby Engel :)
Ms.Dizon, I thought the activity we did today with building a tower with paper was great.! I hope we will do more fun activities later on in the year. -Kelsey H
There are too may projects to type them all out. You will just have to wait. The blue boxes are just blue boxes, nothing special. If you sign up for NJHS you pick which activities you do, but there are 1-2 that are required. If you are applying applications are due by Sept 18th. They can include all your activities from 6th grade on. There is some math in chemistry, but mostly in physics. We do not do disection per say... All I can do is leave it to that. We do 1 or 2 long term projects. My favorite subject in school was choir and math, but I still liked science. I wasn't the very best at first, but I got better at science.
I have two questions because you were gone today.:)When are we going to know when NJHS applications are exepted? What will be the hardest unit to cover in 8th grade science?
I post grades on progressbook once I have new assignments to put in. There is no one chemical that is powerful. It is what you do with it that makes it powerful. NJHS applications are due Sept 18th and new tapps will be annouced by the end of the month
hey this is sky again. i am still confused what u mean by the whole dicecting things. cause i sorta cant stand the thought of that. haha. can u plz explain a little bit more
I miss you too Hannah Hudson You guys may not be making your own blogs, but you will be doing an assignment on a blog. For this quarter we will have only 1 blog, but we will have another one some time before the end of the year. The Safety Book Project for the 8th grade is due Tuesday, Sept 1 I can't give anymore info on the dissecting topic, just ask an 8th graders. The best suggestion I have about presentations is practice in front of a mirror, then have Ms. Dizon see your practiced performace. You should be ready then. My favorite thing about science is seeing kids "get it..."
We have partner projects in both the 7th adn 8th grade. I don't have a favorite student, but there are some students I will never forget. I wanted to become a science teacher because your can do so many things in science. I love seeing kids' light blubs go on when they get it. No disecting frogs. This should make you feel better Sky. I don't want to ruin the surprise as to what experiments we do this year. With the year getting busier I will probably only check blogs once a week till the end of this quarter. Then we will start a new blog. OAT review will start right around Thanksgiving break and testing is in April and May.
Hi Ms. Dizon if someone walks past you and after they walk past you why do you feel a brezze after the person passes you and not when they pass you?? Tori W.
Tori... Think of wind acting the same way as water. Picture you swimming in a pond. Then imagine a boat passing you. The waves must still pass through the fluid before it can reach you. The same goes for the movement of air. Wind, which the movement of air molecules, must travel before it reaches you. This is why it takes a second before you actually feel the movement of air.
hey when do we get to learn about earth science and that stuff like volcanoes and earthquakes thats my favorite to learn about. I better still get my extra credit for that lol jk thanks
My favorite shows right now are Grey's Anatomy, Hell's Kitchen. My favorite book is Little Women and Anna of Green Gables, and my favorite animal are butterflies. Ny dream job in 7th grade was to be a doctor. My favorite science experiment, which we have not done yet, is a blood typing lab in the 8th grade. Weather is both a review of what have learned in the past, but adding lots of details to it. Alex I like Dogs more because I am allergic to cats.
Ms. D, What should I do because I dont understand the punnet squares that much? Like I understand the first ones that we did but not the ones with blood types. Megan O ( 1st bell )
